Which state in the US has the fewest counties?

You don't have to be a geography expert to know that the right answer to this question is Delaware. This Mid-Atlantic state of the US is divided into only three counties: New Castle (with the biggest population), Kent (located between the two other counties), and Sussex.

Alaska has no counties (bouroughs) and Louisiana also has none (parishes).

Louisiana does not have any counties. They have parishes.

M Carter McNaught, I can't just forget about Newport County. I assume that the city of Newport is in that county, and I attended the Navy Officer Candidate School for four months there.
