Which state is the "Beehive state"?
This state is famous for the peaceful atmosphere and sometimes it's even called "the best place to live in". The thing is that more than 60% of the citizens here are Mormons and this fact influences their lifestyle greatly. So probably one wouldn't be surprised to know that the hardworking and modest inhabitants of the area have chosen a beehive as the symbol of the state.

The beehive was chosen as a symbol when Brigham Young brought the persecuted Mormons from the East to settle in Utah. The bee is a symbol of busyness and he wanted his people to be industrious. Also, in their book of scripture, the Book of Mormon, “deseret” is translated as meaning “honeybee”. The original name proposed for the Utah territory was Deseret but was not accepted. Utah comes from the Ute Indians who were the inhabitants of the territory.

LarryLane0415, sorry to disappoint you but Mormons no longer practice polygamy. It has been outlawed since 1890 and was part of the requirement for them to become a state in 1896. You can however join Warren Jeffs FLDS IN Southern Utah/Arizona area. They still practice illegal polygamy. Or Cody Brown of Sister Wives fame. But Mormons do not condone polygamy.

Frank P. Araujo, it is the Beehive House where he lived with one of his many wives. The others lived next door in an adjacent home called The Lion House. They are both interesting to visit.
