‘Happy Feet’ is a 2006 computer-animated musical comedy film that featured the story of emperor penguins. It was an international production between the United States and Australia. The film was produced at the capital city of the state of New South Wales, at the Sydney-based visual effects and animation studio, Animal Logic for Warner Bros.Village Roadshow Pictures, and Kingdom Feature Productions.

The film was directed, produced, and co-written by Australian George Miller (born 1945). Numerous voices were used in the film for the penguin characters that included famous actors and actresses including Robin Williams (1951-2014) and Nicole Kidman (born 1967).

The film was released in North American theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures and then by Roadshow Films in Australia and New Zealand. The budget for the film was $100 million and it realized $384.3 million at the box office.

The film took four years to make and its running time was 108 minutes.

‘Happy Feet’ received generally positive reviews from critics, becoming the recipient of the inaugural British Academy Film Awards for Best Animated Film. It was the fourth non-Disney or Pixar film to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The plot features an emperor penguin’s “heartsong” that brings together two lovers who become penguin mates, produce offspring, and experience trials and challenges. It is the offspring’s dance moves that are featured with “jukebox music’ throughout the film.
