Which two football (soccer) teams play in the Edinburgh Derby?

The Edinburgh Derby refers to any football (soccer) match played by two Scottish clubs, Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) and Hibernian (Hibs). They are the oldest professional clubs based in Edinburgh, Scotland and have been rivals since the first match between the clubs on Christmas Day 1875.

Heart of Midlothian Football Club currently competes in the Scottish Premiership, which is the top tier of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) (2021). They were formed in 1874 and their name was influenced by Walter Scott's novel 'The Heart of Midlothian' (1818). Midlothian is a historic county of Scotland that borders Edinburgh.

Hibernian Football Club also plays in the Scottish Premiership. It was founded in 1875 by members of Edinburgh's Irish community and was named after the Roman word for Ireland.
