Which US president had been leader of a labor union?
After moving to Hollywood in 1937, Ronald Reagan became an actor and starred in a few major productions. Reagan was twice elected as President of the Screen Actors Guild, the labor union for actors, where he worked to root out Communist influence.

williamrlaughlin, Lad, you have way too much time on your hands (even if it was all cut and paste). And do you really think that someone who has to ask that question would (or maybe could) even read it. Words of two syllables and less next time.

For a second I thought more like unions like the teamsters Etc, but then I remembered the labor union of the acting class!

According to James Garner (who was the VP at the time), Reagan was useless as President of the SAG.

Terry W. Lake, thank you comrade for standing for the proletariat ... it’s fine upstanding young communists like you that will defeat fascism and in the end ,the glorious future of the State will be insured and we can join all the unquestionable triumphs of nations that embraced communism , that history records as the finest moments of human liberty and equality for all

williamrlaughlin, Ask somebody what time it is and they tell you how to build a Cuckoo Clock.

Reagen worked a Union Job as mostly what was considered a B actor. After working Union for over 25 years he was awarded a 10.25 million dollar contract in today's figures as Host of General Electric theatre in 1954. As soon as the Union made him rich beyond what he imagined possible he immediately quit "acting" like a liberal anticommunist and begin "acting" like a conservative fascist in 1962. During Reagan's political career many people confused his Television personality for the Anthology programming with the true turncoat actions of the man. The net effect of all Reagan era tax bills reduced federal revenues by 1% while increasing federal spending 8.2%, his voodoo economics never trickled down and since his anti union attacks the middle class has stagnated and the only class of people growing is poverty. 18.5 million people live in extreme poverty in the United States today. More then at any point since the Great depression. Of course the current leader of the Republican Regime claims only 250, people live in extreme poverty. A number we all know is grossly under exaggerated, we nearly 600,000 homeless, with an additional 3 million people facing brief stints of homelessness annually. We know damned well the Current Leader of the Republican Regime lies in order to continue the fascist overthrow and dehumanizing demands that begin with Reagan.
