Londoner Jonathan Ive designed the iMac, the iPod, and the iPhone. In 1999, he was named as one of the world's top 100 inventors under the age of 35. Jonathan Ive is Apple's senior vice president of Design, reporting to CEO Tim Cook. Since 1996, he has been responsible for leading a design team widely regarded as one of the world's best. Steve Jobs said in 1998 that the "i" in "iMac" stood for Internet. That same year, he gave another speech in which he listed other "i" words:
internet
individual
instruct
inform
inspire
The short answer is Internet. The long answer is there is no longer a single word associated with the "i".

The "i" in iMAC might be the first letter of Johnahan's last name, Ive. Possibly.
