Kelly Ann McGillis (7/9/1957 Los Angeles, California) is an American stage and screen actress widely known for her film roles, such as Rachel Lap in "Witness" (1985) with Harrison Ford (7/13/1942), for which she received Golden Globe and BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) nominations; Charlie in "Top Gun" (1986) with Tom Cruise (7/3/1962); "Made in Heaven" (1987) with Timothy Hutton (8/16/1960); "The House on Carroll Street" (1988) with Jeff Daniels (2/19/1955) and Jessica Tandy (6/7/1909-9/11/1994); and as Kathryn Murphy in "The Accused" (1988) with Jodie Foster (11/19/1962).

McGillis was raised in Los Angeles, and attended the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. In 1975, she moved to New York City to study acting at Juilliard School, where she graduated in 1983.

During the late-1980s and through the mid-2000s, McGillis was a featured actress at the prestigious Shakespeare Theater Company in Washington DC. In 2002, she appeared in the production of John Webber's play "The Duchess of Malfi" at the Shakespeare Theater.

In 2021, McGillis entered into a civil union with Melanie Leis, a Philadelphia sales executive.
