The Indian Premier League is a professional men's Twenty20 (20 overs cricket game), contested by different cricket teams based out of Indian cities. The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in 2007. The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world and in 2014 was ranked sixth by average attendance among all sports leagues. According to BCCI, the 2015 IPL season contributed INR 1,150 crore (US$ 150 million) to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the Indian economy. There have been fourteen sessions of the IPL tournament from 2007 to 2021. The IPL 2022, also known as IPL 15 or, for sponsorship reasons, Tata IPL 2022 is scheduled to be played from April 2 and will last till June 3.

Delhi-Capitals franchise shelled INR 10.75 crore (USD1.42 million) for Indian all rounder Shardul Thakur, Punjab-Kings franchise shelled INR 11.5 crore (USD 1.52 million) for England batsman Liam Livingstone, Sunrisers-Hyderabad franchise shelled INR 10.75 crore (USD 1.42 million) for West Indies wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Puran.
