Who is the only author to write and compose the national anthems of 2 countries?

Rabindranath Tagore has the unique distinction to be the writer and composer of National anthem of Two countries. His "Janagana mona Adhinayaka Jaya he" was adopted as the national anthem of India on 24th January 1950. This song was first presented in the Calcutta session of National congress.

The new born country Bangladesh in 1971 adopted Tagore's song "Amaar sonar bangla aami tomaay Bhalobasi" as its national anthem.

g sanborn, I'm afraid the distinction you draw is opposite of what country and nation actually are. You correct that there is a difference between the terms nation, state, and country, even though the words are often used interchangeably. Country and State are synonymous terms that both apply to self-governing political entities. A nation, however, is a group of people who share the same culture but do not have sovereignty. The use of the word country here is correct.
