Ang Lee (born October 23, 1954) is a Taiwanese born American film director, screenwriter and producer. He has won the Academy Award for Best Director twice: for Brokeback Mountain (2005) and for Life of Pi (2012). He also won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). He is one of the few people of Asian descent to win an Oscar. He is the first Asian to win the Best Director Academy Award.

Lee's work is known for its emotional charge, which critics believe is responsible for his success in offsetting cultural barriers and achieving international recognition.
