Sly Stone was a front-man of Sly and the Family Stone band. He was a famous American musician, songwriter and producer and made a serious contribution to the soul, funk and rock music of the 1960s and 1970s.

Sly Stone perfected funk as a music genre created by James Brown. The records by the Family Stone were true novelties of those times: independent, ignoring racial and gender restrictions, euphoric and unique. Not only funk singers were influenced by Stone's work: he changed the art of his time and set a new direction for the development of music.
