Who is this politician?

Tsai Ing-wen is a Taiwanese politician who is the president-elect of the Republic of China, the first woman elected to the office. She is also the first president-elect to be of Hakka and Aboriginal descent (1/4 Paiwan from her grandmother), first unmarried president, and the first to have never held an elected post. She will become the second female head of state in East Asia alongside current President of South Korea Park Geun-hye, and the first female head of state in East Asia unrelated to a former head of state.

I am very surprised that so few recognised her. I have seen her on tv multiple times. Also remarkable that so many opted for Singapore where the long time prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, is a man.

teacherchicky, I had difficulty (even though unwarranted) with this one. She is the only female president of those Asian countries and first for "Taiwan". Both countries bill themselves as "Republic of China". Only the communists add "Peoples".
