Rosalind Russell was an American actress, best known for her role of Hildy Johnson, an amiable and fast-talking newspaper reporter in His Girl Friday (1940).

Rosalind was also popular for her performance in such films as Auntie Mame (1958) and Rose in Gypsy (1962). She was considered one of the renowned comedians of those times and one of the most beautiful women of the epoch. Her characters had always been outstanding and recognizable for their ladylike and stately appearance, as well as for their diversity: Rosalind usually played careerist women, such as judges, psychiatrists and journalists. She won all five Golden Globes for which she was nominated. Russel was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress four times throughout her career.
