"Jungle Fever", a 1991 American romantic drama written, produced and directed by Spike Lee, stars Wesley Snipes, Annabella Sciorra, Lee, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Samuel L. Jackson, Lonette McKee, John Turturro, Frank Vincent, Halle Berry (in her film debut plays a crack addict), Tim Robbins, Brad Dourif, Queen Latifah, Michael Imperioli, and Anthony Quinn. It is Lee's 5th feature-length film and it explores the beginning and end of an extramarital interracial relationship against the urban backdrop of the streets of New York City in the early 1990s. The film received positive reviews, with particular praise for Jackson's performance.

The film is about a successful and married black man who contemplates having an affair with a white girl from work. He's quite rightly worried that the racial difference will make an already taboo relationship even worse.

Berry (b. August 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, US) is a film actress who was the first African American to win the Best Actress Academy Award. She received the honor for her nuanced portrayal of Leticia Musgrove, a down-on-her-luck character in "Monster’s Ball" (2001).

She was a teenage finalist in national beauty pageants, worked in modeling, and began acting on TV in 1989. Her first film roles are in "Jungle Fever" and "Boomerang". She also starred with Jessica Lange in "Losing Isaiah" (1995), a drama about adoption. From 1995—2020, Berry had roles in about 30 films; she made her directorial debut with "Bruised" (2020).
