Who produced the first commercial light bulb in 1879?
Thomas Edison is credited with the invention of the first commercial light bulb, but the famous American inventor wasn't the only one who contributed to the development of this revolutionary technology. Many notable figures are also remembered for their work with electric batteries, lamps and the creation of the first incandescent bulbs.
It was a series of small improvements on the ideas of previous inventors that led to light bulbs. What makes Edison’s contribution to electric lighting so extraordinary is that he didn’t stop with improving light bulbs. He developed a whole suite of inventions that made the use of light bulbs practical.

Actually, the first light bulb, as well as the first radio and a/c electricity plus a host of other electronic devices, were developed by engineering genius Nikola Tesla. Edison and Marconi jumped on the bandwagon and took the credit.

Suzanne Bredlau Turgeon, Tesla was working for Edison at one time. Edison patented it so he get credit. Doesn’t make it right. Sort of like how Columbus “discovered” America.

Nikola Tesla solve the filament burning out prematurely and placed the filament in a vacuum where there is no oxygen to burn out the filament.

Tesla was much smarter than Edison. Edison was more of a con man that once killed an elephant in the New York zoo I believe, but I'm not sure if it was New York trying to prove Tesla Alternating Current was dangerous. Direct Current would be just as dangerous if you hooked it up to an elephant heart.

Raja Teucergrp, Yes...one Lewis Howard Latimer, an African American, who worked alongside Edison. His improved carbon filament bulb was what made the bulb viable as a household product.
He also wrote the first book on electric lighting and drew up the first designs for Alexander Graham Bell's telephone invention. He had untold patents himself.
