Carl Gugasian (b. October 12, 1947) is an American criminal who is now viewed as one of the most notorious bank robbers in the history of the United States. He is a person who was in the end given a 17 year sentence for bank robbery by a U.S. court.

U.S. news media reported that Gugasian was meticulous in the way he planned and executed his robberies. He would begin by scouting for a bank in a particular location. He research specifically looking for banks in small towns, close to wooded areas where on the other side of which was a road with easy access to a freeway.

Gugasian used a cache to stash any evidence connecting him to the crime (including the money). A few days later, he returned to retrieve the stuff. Before he committed any bank robbery, he observed the bank for several days, he would strike on a Friday night, under the assumption that his timing would minimize the number of customers at the bank while maximizing the amount of available cash to steal.

He has been sarcastically called "The Friday Night Bank Robber". Almost all of his bank robberies occurred on a Friday; he had a taboo against performing crimes on any other day. In the U. S., he is considered infamous because of the total number of banks that he actually robbed. It is held that Gugasian robbed at least 50 U.S. banks in over a 30 year period. He was able to obtain a more than 2 million dollars.

Gugasian became a robber because he thought he'd never be able to get a "real job".
