Adam Faith (real name Terence Nelhams-Wright, 1940-2003) was a British singer and one of the most charted acts of the 1960s. He had several top hits in the UK, including two that reached number one.

Faith's first number one was 'What Do You Want?' (1959), which featured the line "What do you want if you don't want money". It was written by Les Vandyke (1931-2021) and spent 19 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, three of which were in the top position.

A few months later, Faith reached the number one spot again with 'Poor Me' (1960). It was released when 'What Do You Want?' was still at number two in the UK Singles Chart.

Faith's last Top Ten hit in the UK was "The First Time" (1963), which reached number 5. After this, Faith's success as a singer declined as a result of new popular artists coming onto the scene, such as The Beatles.

During his music career, Faith also starred in films, such as, 'Never Let Go' (1960) and 'What a Whopper'. Despite almost losing his leg in a car accident, he continued acting in a few films and television shows, including 'Foxes' (1980), starring Jodie Foster, and 'Love Hurts' (1992-1994).

Shortly before his death, Faith had a one-off role in an episode of 'Murder in Mind' (2003). He became ill after a stage performance of 'Love and Marriage' (2003) and died of a heart attack early the next morning.
