'Mastermind' is a British television quiz show that is, as of 2021, presented by journalist and newsreader Clive Myrie (born 1964). Myrie took up the role after the previous question master, John Humphrys (born 1943), decided to step down after 18 years. Myrie made his debut as the host of 'Mastermind' on 23rd August 2021. Previous presenters include Magnus Magnusson from 1972 until 1997, Peter Snow from 1998 until 2000, and Clive Anderson from 2001 until 2002.

The creator of the game show, Bill Wright, was inspired by his experience of being interrogated by the Gestapo during World War II. In the show, four contestants face an intimidating setting and challenging questions about a specialised subject of the contestants' choice and general knowledge. The winner is the contestant with the most points at the end of the show.

Myrie is the son of Jamaican immigrants who first joined the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in 1987 as a trainee local radio reporter. He worked his way up the career ladder, becoming the BBC foreign correspondent in 1999 and a presenter on the BBC News Channel in 2009.

Throughout his career, Myrie has experienced racist abuse and death threats because of his skin colour. Fortunately, he refused to let the abusers win and persevered, winning both "Television Journalist of the Year" and "Network Presenter of the Year" in the 2021 'RTS (Royal Television Society) Television Journalism Awards'.
