Albert Speer was a trained architect. He was born in 1905 in Mannheim, Germany into an upper-middle-class family and died in 1981.

He joined the Nazi party in 1930 and eventually became Adolph Hitler's personal architect. In 1942 he was put in charge of Germanys war production. Speer was instrumental in the exploitation of slave labour for the benefit of the German war effort.

He was a German architect who was Adolf Hitler’s chief architect (1933–45) and minister for armaments and war production (1942–45). After World War II, Speer was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He later published popular books about the Third Reich.

After the war ended Speer spent 20 years in prison and was released in 1966. He was not executed as some other Nazi officials because he denied knowing anything about the Holocaust.
