The American television game "Family Feud" had three separate runs. The first was in 1976.

In "Family Feud", two family teams of five contestants (reduced to four contestants for the 1994–95 season) each compete to win cash by offering answers to survey questions. The original version of the show began with the families being introduced, seated opposite each other as if posing for family portraits, after which the host interviewed them. The minimum age to participate in Family Feud is 15, although every family must have at least one person who is 18 years or older.

Its original run from 1976 to 1985 aired on ABC and in syndication, with Richard Dawson (born Colin Lionel Emm; 20 November 1932 – 2 June 2012) an English-American actor, comedian, and game-show host and panelist in the United States, as host.

In 1988, the series was revived and aired on both CBS and in syndication with Raymond (Ray) Neil Combs, Jr. (April 3, 1956 – June 2, 1996). He was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and game-show host, hosting, "Family Feud", until 1994.

Combs began his professional career in the late 1970s. His popularity on the stand-up circuit led to him being signed as the host of the revival of the game show "Family Feud". The show aired on CBS from 1988–1993 and was in syndication from 1988–1994. From 1995 to 1996, Combs hosted another game show, "Family Challenge".
