Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov is a retired Soviet/Russian cosmonaut and Air Force Major general, also known as postage stamps artist. On on the 18th of March, 1965, he became the first human to conduct extravehicular activity, exiting the capsule during the Voskhod 2 mission for a 12-minute spacewalk. He went outside the spacecraft connected to it by a 5.35-meter tether.

Leonov was in space for 12 minutes and 9 seconds. During his walk he faced with a serious complication: his spacesuit inflated in the vacuum of space, so he wasn't able to re-enter the craft. Leonov had to open a valve and allow some of the pressure to bleed off. It was hard for him to get back inside, but the cosmonaut acted bravely and finally did it, even violating some instructions.
