The Russians didn't beat us (Americans) to the moon, but they did beat us into space and the space walk.

Didn't remember the guy's name, but I knew it wasn't the other 3. Armstrong and Aldrin were the first on the moon, and Gagarin was the first to orbit the earth. He died at age 34 in a plane crash and is a national hero in Russian.

Johnny Rock, The Russians certainly DID beat you to the moon. On the 13th September 1959, Vostok 2 landed on the Moon's surface. It was an unmanned craft.
