Who was the king and founder of the Twenty-fifth dynasty of Egypt?
Piye, once transliterated as Piankhi, was the king and founder of the Twenty-fifth dynasty of Egypt. He ruled Egypt from 747 BC to 722 BC. He ruled from the city of Napata, located deep in Nubia, modern-day Sudan. Piye (Piankhi) was the son of Kashta and Pebatjma.
During Piye's life, it is believed that he had three or four wives and at least six or seven children. His son Taharqa would become his successor.
Piye was buried east of his Pyramid in what is now Northern Sudan.
