Who was the most decorated US infantryman of the First World War?
Samuel Iredell Parker (1891, in Monroe, North Carolina – 1975, in Concord, North Carolina) was a United States Army Second Lieutenant and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in the Battle of Soissons France during World War I. President Franklin Roosevelt presented the Medal of Honor to Parker in 1937. Parker's other awards include the Distinguished Service Cross, two awards of the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, two Purple Hearts, and the Croix de Guerre, making him the single most decorated infantryman of the First World War.

Quiz Club, do your research... Alvin York was the most decorated soldier during WW1. Lbrewer is right, LT is an officer. And an officer is an officer, no matter what division they are in.

I have understood the answer to this question to be Alvin York for my entire adult life and I am now 87. I have never seen nor heard of any member of the officer rank referred to as an “infantryman”. Parker was an officer. Officers are commissioned to manage, organize, teach, lead and command soldiers including non-commissioned officers in the performance of their duties which, for the infantry, means fighting on the ground. This question is either dead wrong or too clever by half. I consider it to be the former.
