Theodore Roosevelt October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919) was an American statesman, author, explorer, soldier, naturalist, and reformer who served as the 26th President of the United States from 1901 to 1909. As a leader of the Republican Party during this time, he became a driving force for the Progressive Era in the United States in the early 20th century. Following the assassination of President McKinley in September 1901, Roosevelt, at age 42, succeeded to the office, becoming the youngest United States President in history.

Kennedyh was the youngest ever to be ELECTED to office. Roosevelt was not elected, taking office after McKinley's assassination. Everybody answering this one incorrectly probably remembers all the hype about Kennedy being the youngest and the first Catholic. Good question.

Kennedy was elected at 43. Roosevelt took office after McKinleys death at 42.

If its a Frank Cowell question the answer is never the most obvious but the correct answer is usually based on an obscure fact. Always look carefully at his questions as they have some trick to them.

Good question. I have always thought it was JFK . The question didn’t ask who was the youngest elected president but who was the youngest. I got it right by choosing Teddy. But I admit that I had to ponder it for a second and noticed the word elected was missing. Excellent trip up question.
