'Easy' is the code letter for 'E' in the wartime phonetic alphabet, so-called 'Able Baker' code. There were eight companies in a regiment, being named A to H (Able-Baker-Charlie-Dog-Easy-Fox-George-How).

The eight episode mini-series is based on Stephen Ambrose's book 'Band of Brothers'. It was first televised in 9th September 2001. The series dramatizes the history of 'Easy' Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 101st Airborne Division, from jump training in the United States through its participation in major actions in Europe, up until Japan's capitulation and the end of World War II.

The 'Able Baker' code for phonetic alphabet was used from 1943 until 1956, when it was superseded by the international radio alphabet, so-called 'Alfa Bravo' code.
