Iran, also called Persia, and officially the Islamic Republic of Iran, is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered to the northwest by Armenia and Azerbaijan, to the north by the Caspian Sea, to the northeast by Turkmenistan, to the east by Afghanistan, to the southeast by Pakistan, to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and to the west by Turkey and Iraq.

The majority of the population speak Persian, which is also the official language of the country. Others include speakers of a number of other Iranian languages within the greater Indo-European family, and languages belonging to some other ethnicities living in Iran.

Iran is a beautiful place as told by an uncle who been there in 50s and 60s before the rise of the Khomeini's. Cosmopolitan just like the US. When it became Islamic at the end of the 70s. Things definitely had change. There is now a bitter rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran in the gulf region.
