In the film, Los Angeles policeman Lt. Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) finds himself at the center of a spate of murders carried out by a secret society called New Order. The society has killers who select "weak" members of society for extermination. As the murder rate rises, Cobra takes model Ingrid (Brigitte Nielsen) into protective custody after she witnesses the New Order's leader in action. As Cobra falls for Ingrid, they find shelter in a small town, but they must soon fight for survival.

"Cobra" is an American action film that was directed by George P. Cosmatos and produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus. The film's screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone, who is in the title role. The film was loosely based on the novel 'Fair Game' by Paula Gosling, which was later filmed under that title in 1995. Other stars are: Reni Santoni, Brigitte Nielsen, Andrew Robinson, and Brian Thompson.

With the film's initial release by Warner Bros. (WB) in May 1986, it received many negative reviews, with criticism focused on the overuse of genre tropes. Nonetheless, the movie became a financial success at the box office. Worldwide it grossed $160 million with a budget of $25 million being used to make the film. "Corba" is now considered a cult classic movie.
