Greenland has a population of 56,000 and 4,186 passenger cars (based on "Greenland in figures 2017") are owned in the entire country. However, given that there are few roads in major centers and no roads between them, the majority of these cars are located in the capital of Nuuk. Nuuk has about 5 km of paved roads and 2 stoplights, the country’s maximum speed limit is 60 kph (35 mph), 40 kph (25 mph) in the remaining centers. All travel between towns is by plane, boat, helicopter, snowmobile or dogsled.
