Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837. Chicago is the third most populous city in the United States, after New York City and Los Angeles. With 2.7 million residents, it is the most populous city in both the U.S. state of Illinois and the Midwestern United States. Its metropolitan area, sometimes called Chicagoland, is home to 9.5 million people and is the third-largest in the United States.

Never lived there , always lived in Spokane, Wa when I moved there from Germany! I had a Job there for 43 years also raised my 3 Kids! I been retired since 9/11 and moved to PriestLake, ID in Dec 02!

When it comes to populations of major cities, all a person has to do is pay attention to the census. The census use to be counted every (5) years back in the day. But has since changed to the every (10) years format. Just for the record Houston, is the fourth largest city, followed by Philadelphia, being the fifth largest city in the United States.

The city of Miami is about half the size of Jacksonville. Even the metro area is about half of Chicagos.

I reasoned it out, and took a shot. I got it right, but Miami never occurred to me. I was thinking about San Francisco or Houston, which almost made me put Chicago in 5th place...but not quite. :)
