Did Ford offer ballistic (bullet) proof door panels for their Crown Victoria?
Prior to 2006 "ballistic proof", aka, 'bullet proof' door panels were available from "after-market" vendors. Beginning with model year 2006, Ford offered them as a "factory option" in the P71 Package on their Crown Victoria. At $2400.00 for the two front doors it was a rather expensive option, so in many cases when the car was retired and sent to auction the Kevlar panels would be removed for use on the new police cruiser.

Answered incorrectly. Great idea putting those bullet proof panels on Police Cruisers. It is a sin what is happening to our Police men and women in America. These criminals in this day and age don’t give a second thought about killing a Police Officer or any one else. So scary and disgusting. Sorry. Thanks for letting me vent.

bmcamilot, probably not so much that they don’t care about the prisoners, if anyone is gonna shoot at the car they’re going to shoot at the cops in the front, not any prisoners in the back - more likely they’re trying to help those prisoners escape. Pays to think things through…

It's a good job that we do not have that much gun crime here in the U.K. Roughly, 50 people or less get killed here in a year! Our cops only carry guns if there is something very serious going on, i.e. armed hostage taking, armed bank robbery, armed terrorists, or for less serious matters, it's the taser that comes into use. As for bulletproof doors, not needed. Nobody would dream of doing that to a police vehicle because they know what will happen if they do shoot at the vehicle, 10+ years inside.

I own one right now a 2007 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor with ceramic and Kevlar bullet proof front doors. The rear doors no they don't care about the prisoners and they have stab proof panels in the back of the front seats as well....
