The U.S. film and TV industries have a long history of doing remakes of British productions, particularly comedies. Many successful British television shows (mainly sitcoms and reality shows) have been remade for the American market. The amount of reworking varies with some shows (such as All in the Family) keeping the basic situation and then adding many original features while others have taken complete scripts verbatim (such as Amanda's). It is surprising to know that there are a few American films that are the remake of Hindi movies. For example, Pearl Harbor, A Common Man, Just Go With It etc.
