How many eyelids does a camel have per eye?
These amazing animals are able to survive in harsh conditions of a desert due to many biological peculiarities. First of all, it's their ability to save a large amount of water in the organism for a long period of time. But there is one more interesting fact about their body. It's obvious that camels have to protect their eyes from wind-blown sand. That's why nature presented them with three eyelids: two ordinary eyelids clean off the sand while the transparent one protects the eyeball and lets them see where they are going.
