How many ridges are there around the edge of a US dime?
A dime has exactly 118 ridges around its edge. Different coins actually have different numbers of reeds. Of course, pennies and nickels don't have any at all. The coin with the most reeds is the 1-oz American Eagle Silver Coin, which has 201. There's a chart at the U.S. Mint's website that shows how many reeds each coin has.

Shelley, you are correct that is not even remotely interesting from a general stand point. But from a trivial stant point, this is what trivia enthusist lives for. On 221B Baker Street, there are 17 steps leading to the rooms occupied by Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson. Is this remotely interesting? For most people, probably not, but to those of us that enjoys esoteric and odd menuitae that surrounds us, we thrive.
