How many times is Jesus mentioned in the Bible?
The number of times a specific name appears can vary from translation to translation. The number of occurrences given in parenthesis is the count reported by BibleGateway.com for the New International Version.
For example, BibleGateway.comBibleGateway.com reports that the name Jesus is used 1,281 times.
This difference in the number of occurrences is not due to material that is missing or has been added. It is simply due to the way sentences are constructed and the number of times pronouns like he or she are is used instead of the person's actual name.

The real answer varies greatly depending on which version of the bible you are reading. Another bad question which should have specified which version they were talking about.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands of INTERPRETATIONS of a varying number of manuscripts from which bibles are compiled!!!

My thoughts exactly as there are different versions of the Bible such as King James, Gideon's, etc, etc
Are they all the same? Poor question as it is not specific enough. I should have used the replace question which I really do but this question deserves to be replaced or altered.

A question I enjoy is "How many times does the word Jesus occur in the 1611 King James Version?" The answer is NONE. [Because the letter J was not yet in use. There are however around 1200 occurrences of Iesus.]

The question seems to ask how many times the person, Jesus, is mentioned or referred to. Not how many times the name is mentioned. Aside from the many versions and translations, the question doesn't offer enough parameters to enable a true answer. The answer only uses one resource. Not very well referenced.

This is a question that can't really be accurately answered. For instance, it depends on whether or not you are Christian if the passages speaking of the Messiah are mentioning Jesus or not. I love discussing the Bible, but it really does not belong on a quiz that is intended to be factual.

Checking BibleGateway.com for the New International Version it gives the answer as 1310, not 1281. I use BibleGateway on a regular basis and it's a very useful site.

well busy quick hands of one of 3 yr grand got it wrong, and perfectly ok with that lol, as didnt even read question, somehow she got to this next question, answering it too, long reach she had to mouse and still loling here as she munchin on her snack, tomato and cucumber juices on her hands and now my mouse, how did she reach ???... did read now, would have gone with largest amount and been "right" but really dont think there is a real answer ...
