"I wandered lonely as a cloud…" ...and then what did the poet see?
"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" (also commonly known as "Daffodils") is a lyric poem by William Wordsworth and is his most famous work. The poem was inspired by an event on 15 April 1802, in which Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy came across a "long belt" of daffodils. Written sometime between 1804 and 1807 (in 1804 by Wordsworth's own account), it was first published in 1807 in Poems in Two Volumes, and a revised version was published in 1815.

He discovers "a host of golden daffodils."
In the fourth and final verse he says:
"For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."

I have always loved that poem. My large garden was a host of Daffodils last month, now it a host of Blue Bells.

Come every Spring, Daffodils were always a delight in our Gardens. Planted under Japanese Maples, Crepe Myrtle and Red Dogwood trees, as well as the Azaleas, they always looked so glorious following the Hyacinth and Crocus and among the Tulips, Iris and Daylilies and followed by the Foxgloves. We miss the flowers that surrounded our house.
