Is the Balinese Tiger extinct?
The Balinese Tiger became extinct in 1937 and until that time they resided on the Island of Bali. They were very small tigers and their extinction was due to being hunted in large numbers. Sadly there weren’t any types of protection back then so hunting them for sport, to clear areas, and even for food was ongoing. None of the Balinese Tigers are known to have ever been kept in captivity.

It never ceases to amaze me that as humans, we know this is happening, and yet we still don't learn by our mistakes... Hunting members of the animal kingdom to extinction is a heinous act, We are NOT as clever as we believe ourselves to be!! Shame on us!!!

My heart is broken by the lack of respect of all life by humans. The Rhinos and Elephants need our protection before they are all gone. Wake up hominoids, Mama Gaea can take us out like she did with the dinosours.

Margaret O'Neill, Could not agree with you more. Unfortunately a lot of people don't care unless it affects them directly.

It's really sad how so many beautiful creatures have become extinct, because humans can be greedy.

The Tiger's Demise
(14 September 1995)
by Chris Brown
"Tyger, tyger, burning bright
In the forests of the night..."
Thus it once was when Blake wrote
His well-known lines of rhyming note; [famous?]
But now we hear in sadder tones
That the tiger for its bones
Is killed because some people think
A tonic be found for them to drink
Should we to these contentious bones
Consent and speak in lower tones? -
For when we hear of its demise,
(The tyger with the "burning eyes"),
We try to save it from its fate
Though some may think it be too late!
As for the "cure-all" they extract,
There is no cure, and that's a fact!

HANDS OFF OUR WILDLIFE!
by Chris Brown
December 2014
Hands off our wildlife,
It is not for sale.
Hands off our wildlife,
It is not for poaching.
Leave our rhinos, elephants, and tigers alone:
Not for trophies or medicinal use are their tusks, horn, or bone
And let our wildlife roam forever free,
As not so long ago it used to be.

“The last known Bali tiger was killed on September 27th, 1937 which was a female. However, it is believed that the species itself lasted for another ten to twenty years after that incident before dying out.”
Every source I find says these tigers became extinct in the 1950s. 1937 was when the last known killing was recorded.

We tend to have taken much better care of the animals that taste good.

This is so sad. If people want to shoot at something, why not a paper target. Now I'll get some flak from the save the trees group
