On the U.S. (ABC) 1970s TV drama series "Baretta", Robert Blake played the key Detective named Anthony Vincenzo Baretta. Baretta's pet bird was a sulphur-crested cockatoo named Fred. They lived in an apartment in the run-down King Edward Hotel in a bad part of the city.

When not out solving major crimes in New York City's 53rd precinct, Baretta would normally hang out at Ross's Billiard Academy. Also on the show, Tony liked to drive a Chevy car for both work and play. As an unconventional and edgy undercover cop Baretta was seen as a tough, eccentric, and dangerous individual. He was the one New York cop the bad guys feared most!

This Emmy-nominated crime series for many critics and viewers set a standard. It was the standard by which all gritty, realistic television cop shows could be measured.
