Owls are the only birds who can see the colour blue.
Owls are actually able to see the color blue just fine and in fact some birds can see ultraviolet colors which even humans cannot see. The keen color vision of birds like owls is useful when trying to choose a mate or even looking for food. Although it is true that owls can see the color blue, they tend to have worse color vision than other birds like hawks and eagles. There are many different kinds of birds which have feathers that are prominently colored with blue and other birds need to be able to see it for mating purposes.

I believe many here do not understand the nature of this submission. There are far too many comments from angry people over nothing.
1. A statement was made.
2. It was up to you to decide if it was true or false.
3. The answer is FALSE.
4. The explanation elaborates on that with additional information.
Why is everyone up in arms?
There is no problem here.

Ed the question was are owls the only bird that sees the color blue. The answer was false that means other birds see blue, that matches what your saying so the site agrees with you.

To everyone who says this is wrong: Yes, birds can see on color - we have established that. So... the answer is false. The question was "Owls are the ONLY birds who can see the color blue" and as we have established, they ARE NOT the only birds, so the answer is False. This site is right.

They got this one right. But a large amount of y'all commenters say the didn't. Do some research before ya comment. I know this site is notorious for half truths and blatant wrongs. But I think they got this one.

In Australia there are bower birds who collect anything blue to decorate the bower with, I have seen on of these and it is amazing to see so many little things blue scattered in a definite pattern around the area. The male bird will spend a long time arranging the bits and pieces so they look attractive to a female bower bird.

Buford Anderson,
Birds other than owls can see the color blue. Therefore the answer is false.
So the author is correct. If you can't be trusted to check your facts before you spout off, what's the use of you being here?

I know that bower birds can see blue because they pinch all my blue pegs and I found them in their bower along with heaps of other blue things. They obsessed with the color blue.

I'm surprised that so many people don't take the time and care to read questions, like this one, properly. Even when the proper answer is identified and explained, many seem to have ignored them and went on to vent their unfounded opinions anyway. I've found questions with erroneous answers (and reported a few, receiving unsatisfactory replies), but I try to ensure that I'm not dueling with ghosts.

Lately we seem to be getting question from questionable authors. This author joined in 02/2015 and has a performance rating of only 306 out of 756. It seems that she doesn't live anywhere. Other mysterious authors explained their questions without having a source to cite. This one cited a source, but when I clicked on it there was no source. I wonder if her other 1447 questions are based on something?

The answer disputes the explanation. It's at odds. Who checks these things.

Huh? Does that mean all birds see the color blue? And why pull owls see collar differently than other birds? Nocturnal or not it should be explained. LAnswer is certainly lacking.
