Platform 9¾ became famous through the Harry Potter stories. Which one of these platforms (tracks) really exists at King's Cross station?
The station now has twelve tracks, but they are numbered 0 to 11 (east to west). The reason for this is as follows: up until a few years ago only tracks 1-11 existed; but in a refurbishment of the station, space was found to create an additional track to the east of platform 1. It was considered too disruptive to renumber all the other tracks in this busy station.

I’m a train driver at Kings Cross. Platform 0 is on the site of the old taxi stand and I drove the first train into it as a test before it was commissioned. I also assisted with the signal siting.

Chris Brown, I live in the UK and didn't know it. I think we are supposed to go for the ridiculous answer - Platform 0. Nice to see there is a real train driver among the quizzes, though. :-)

Chrissy Krainock then Google is incorrect. There is no platform, just a gift shop and a tourist photo spot. The actual filming took place on platform 4 at Kings X.

There is a platform 9. 3/4 at Kings Cross, its a part of a Harry Potter exhibition, you can get a train to Hogwarts. There is also a platform 0 where you can get a real train to many places.

Jeff, you are a very lucky man to be able to do this. Haven't been to K X for years but played a big part in my formative years and always enjoyed the station itself. Moved away and Waterloo became my London station. No comparison, at all!! All the best.
