This is about the classic Twilight Zone series. This American science fiction anthology television series created by Rod Serling ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959 to 1964.

It won many TV and drama awards, and drew much critical acclaim for Serling and his co-workers. Though it had a loyal fanbase, The Twilight Zone drew only moderate ratings and was twice canceled and revived. After five years and 156 episodes (92 written by Serling), he grew weary of the series. In 1964, he decided to not oppose its third and final cancellation.

CBS actually caused the demise of the show, by insisting that it be expanded to a one-hour program. Serling fought this, stating that an anthology series worked much better in a half-hour time. CBS insisted on the change. They won the battle but lost the war. Some extremely good writers (e.g., Serling, Charles Beaumont, Richard Matheson, Ray Bradbury, Earl Hamner, and Jerome Bixby, just to name a few!) contributed stories for the show. SY-FY cable network usually has a Twilight Zone marathon at New Year's, and I try to watch whenever it airs. Some episodes are timeless, and never get stale, even after repeated viewings.
