Starfish have blood.

Starfish belongs to a large group of marine animals called echinoderms. They can be found in all oceans of the world. Largest populations of starfish live in the Indian and Pacific oceans. Starfish (also known as sea stars) are usually located in the shallow water. There are more than 2000 species of starfish and not single one can survive in the freshwater.Sea stars have no brains and no blood. Their nervous system is spread through their arms and their "blood" is actually filtered sea water.

Hey I dated a girl like that... "no brain" and well, she had blood but it was cold.... she even thought she was a star but smelled a bit like fish,. lol

knew this as was around 6 or not quite, summer b day here but rem was a real warm day, which can happen anytime between end of apr and mid oct, but anyway, stuck with me that the water acted as these creatures blood, in a way, the way blood worked in people, and was learning too that animals had blood and well more that this kinda learning was what kept things living, was round this time that learning things about life and living and well had me reading more at that age .... yup was a weird kid and that weird has not changed, as proudly still weird! lol

Cindy Goedelmann Bartlett, Our blood is composed of cells created by our bodies. Starfish have no blood, but use water to move 'food'. Our brain doesn't eat oxygen it absorbs it from the blood. So I agree that the question is correct to say that Starfish don't have blood. The quotes around the word indicate that there is some similarity between blood and how water is used in the Starfish, but it is indeed not blood.

They have a circulatory system and a heart. Their blood is not like human blood but is sea water and pumped throughout their body like human blood. The sea water carries food to the vital organs like blood in a human. Their blood does not carry oxygen like human blood in our circulatory system. So yes, a Sea Star does have blood!
