Where is Stonehenge located?

This ring of standing stones is one of the best known symbols of Great Britain in the world, as well as one of the greatest and mysterious monuments of all time. This prehistoric complex is located in Wiltshire, England, 2 miles (3 km) west of Amesbury and 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury.

The monument was most probably created with primitive tools by Neolithic Britons. Its estimated age varies from 4000 to 5000 years! It took Neolithic builders an estimated 1,500 years to erect. That's not surprising, as the massive stones, comprising the monument, weight from 4 to 25 tons!

And what about the purpose of erecting such an enormous construction? Many modern scholars agree it was a burial ground, but they still are tasked to determine what other purposes it served and, what is the most curious, how a civilization without modern technology—or even the wheel—produced the mighty monument.

If anyone is interested in Pre-Historic sites they should research the Neolithic and Megalithic Temples of the island of Malta in the Mediterranean. Older than the Pyramids and Older than Stonehenge. Truly stunning

Originally it was thought that the blue stones came from Carn Meini in Pembrokeshire, Wales, but a new study now thinks that they came from Carn Goedog a diffrent outcrop several kilometers away. The most likely source of the sarsen stones ( the large upright stones with a capping stone ) are accepted to be in the Marlborough Downs, Wiltshire. Sarsens were known locally in Wiltshire as 'Grey Wethers' due to their resemblance to sheep. The sarsens at Stonehenge were pounded with sarsen hammers to make them smooth.

It's very obviously a calendar wheel. The precise places the sun comes rises and sets varies in a half year cycle day by day from the low sun solstice to the high sun solstice. It's obviously larger and more accurate than a typical sundial.

Wrong! Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain during the 5th century. Centuries after Stonehenge was constructed.

it is part of a complex that starts at the river--a road leads to the stones--buried under a lot of debris--the stones mark time of seasons-shortest and longest days---like the medicine wheel in the usa west does the same season measuring--it is an astrologist laboratory-for studying the stars-

The standing stones were an extraordinary tribute to the artfulness, imaginativeness, and creativeness of the Anglo-Saxon people. Amazing, to say the least.
