The flow of water over Niagara Falls was stopped completely for several months in 1969. The idea was to determine the feasibility of removing the large amount of loose rock from the base of the falls to enhance it’s appearance. In the end, the final decision was that the expense to remove any rocks from the base of Niagara Falls would be too great.

At the present time in 2017, Niagara Falls is noted for its awe-inspiring year-round scenery, thrilling attractions, interactive exhibits, miles of hiking trails, and very family-friendly vacation environment. The Niagara Falls State Park is seen as an especially great adventure, fun packed, and unique experience. Each day many people visit great attractions, including Cave of the Winds, Maid of the Mist ®, Niagara Adventure Theater, Aquarium of Niagara, and the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center.
