Humans have 4 basic Blood Types: A, B, AB & O. For each type, there is a + (positive) & a - (negative). 45% of the population is either O+ or O-. 40% of the population is either A+ or A-. 10% is either B+ or B- and 5% is either AB+ or AB-. Type O- is called the Universal donor blood type and a person with type AB+ can receive Red blood cells as a Universal Recipient.
