What does LASER stand for?
The United States Air Force laser experiment is in the picture. Lasers are used in many different cases, such as distance measuring, leveling land, creating holograms, cleaning teeth and many others. The word laser is actually an acronym which stands for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation". The first laser was constructed by Theodore H. Maiman in 1960.
This source of light emits light coherently, which makes it that unique and useful and enables different applications. Spatial coherence also allows a LASER beam to stay narrow over great distances.
