What expensive spice contains crocin and gives a beautiful golden yellow color to food?

Several years ago I worked in a dining establishment that kept their supply in lockup.

In Sweden we bake saffron bread before every Christmas. But don't eat too much of it. It gives stomach pain If you eat too much.

It gives a lovely yellow colour to food. A little bit goes a long way.

Bonnie Smith, you are right, it’s a main ingredient in fact (paprika or turmeric will help with colour but won’t give the same flavour) although the correct name is Paella, taken from the pan in which it’s cooked and pronounced pa -eh- Lila and not pallela as so many people do

It takes only a few “threads” of saffron to impart that glorious taste and color.

You can use turmeric in place of it. Tiny amount, though!!!😁

Lovely spice, but Very expensive. Try a little Turmeric instead, nice spice much cheaper and a great anti-inflammatory too.
