What is epiphytology?
Epiphytology is the study of the character, ecology, and causes of plant diseases, as blight, which destroy a large number of susceptible plants in a large area simultaneously.

From Webster - epiphytology. 1 : a science that deals with character, ecology, and causes of outbreak of plant diseases especially of epiphytotic nature. 2 : the sum of the factors controlling the presence or absence of a disease or pathogen of plants aspects of epiphytology and control of tomato fruit rot.

drjkmiller, I agree, and that was my first reaction to the question, epiphytes + logos. But when my answer was not to be found among the choices I remembered the Webster dictionary mentioned other meanings (Yes, I still read dictionaries)

I guessed parasitic plants, too. So, we learned today, and last year, that plant pathology is epiphytology. Have a great day! Christine, James's wife
