Go, Pierre!

The population of this small town was 13,646 at the 2010 census. Pierre is considered the second least populous state capital of the U.S.

Its area is also very small (approximately 34 km2). Despite being tiny, the town provides its citizens with real, peaceful and secure life. Pierre is one of the most low-crime places in the country.

Note from history: Founded in 1880, Pierre has been the capital since 1889, having been chosen for its location in the geographic center of the state.
