What is the difference between garbanzo beans and chickpeas?
Garbanzo beans and chickpeas are the same thing. They are both common names for a plant specie named Cicer arietinum. Because they are the same plant and entity, they share the same scientific classification, uses, types, and other identifying characteristics.
The term “garbanzo bean” is used as a common name by Spanish-speaking or Latin people. Meanwhile, the term “chickpea” is used by English-speaking people.

Cheryl McMeekin, that's because of the tahini paste (I use peanut butter when I can't find the tahini, my family can't tell the difference), the olive oil, lemon juice and other items you can add to taste!

ive always called them chick peas..and i dont like chick peas, they can change the name but i still dont like them..

Had almost the exact same question a day or two ago.
And I'm Caucasian and speak English, but we always called them garbanzo beans.
Never chickpeas.
