What is the highest mountain peak in the US and North America?

Denali (previously known Mount McKinley) is the highest mountain peak in the US and North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet (6,190 m) above sea level. It is located in the state of Alaska, as well as other 9 highest mountains of the USA. It is also the center of Denali National Park established here in 1917.

This might be interesting: Judge James Wickersham was the first one to try to climb Denali in 1903. Hudson Stuck, an Alaskan missionary, leads the first successful ascent of Denali in 1913, a decade after the first attempt. Since then, the mountain has always been a popular destination for climbers. There a lot of opportunities to ascent the peak, and hundreds of climbers visit the Denali National Park for this purpose every year.

Calling it Mt. McKinley WAS the name change! The natives always called it Denali. We've just gone back to its original name.

Having seen it up close I knew it was Mt McKinley and I knew it was in Denali National Park. I have also attemted to climb Mt Whitney several times. The first time at 14 years old Iwas in good shape and could have made it to the top. The group I was with not so much. Next time, not in such good shape, Third time all I could do was walk from the car to the trail head.

Denali is what the natives have always called it. The name has been reversed from Mt. McKinley to Denali.

No, I don't think I would like to climb Denali one day. Mt McKinley, maybe. All this PC crap is stupid and a waste of energy. The big rock in question doesn't care what you call it so leave it alone. You'll just start an avalanche of PC bull.
